SLR Stirling Moss

Pedigree

Recalling the SLR racing cars that established the legend of the Silver Arrows and in tribute to Sir Stirling Moss, the Mercedes-Benz SLR Stirling Moss fuses spectacular design with top-drawer engineering to offer a unique driving experience for all the senses. With production limited to 75 units, this model is a top-notch classic for the gentleman sportsman and enthusiast.

The exclusive SLR Stirling Moss represents the crowning glory of an epoch-making automobile. At the same time, it is an expression of gratitude to SLR. CLUB members, who played a key role in the genesis and development of the high-performance sports car.

SLR Stirling Moss

Design

The newly developed form of the SLR Stirling Moss exudes an air of untrammelled dynamism. The stretched bonnet, together with a vehicle body that blends visually with the interior, and the compact muscular rear end, bring the SLR legend back to life just as much as the long air scoops with integral roll-over bar behind the head restraints and the faceted, black-painted vent grilles on the side and bonnet.

The emotionally charged aesthetics of the SLR Stirling Moss are rounded off by extremely high side skirts, powerfully contoured wings and forward-opening gullwing doors. The vehicle can be closed over with carbon fibre tonneau covers. With both tonneau covers in place and the doors closed, the SLR Stirling Moss takes on the air of a sculpture.

SLR Stirling Moss

Technology

Also on the technical front, the SLR Stirling Moss has inherited the finest genes of the SLR family, benefiting from the many years of experience of Mercedes-Benz. Thus, the carbon fibre body, newly developed monocoque and supremely light 1551 kg kerb weight, allied to its excellent aerodynamics and safety, ensure that an outing in the SLR Stirling Moss is a moment of veritable driving pleasure.

The combination of new technology and historical tradition is beyond reasonable doubt.

SLR Stirling Moss

Dynamics

The SLR Stirling Moss owes its impressive power output of 478 kW/650 hp to an AMG 5.5-litre V8 supercharged engine, which delivers a peak torque of 820 newton metres to propel the puristic high-performance sports car to a top speed of 350 km/h. Sheer wonder and speechlessness best describe the reactions when one comes face to face with the SLR Stirling Moss.

A flat underbody in combination with a massive diffuser provides the requisite downforce for a dynamically sporty driving experience.

SLR Stirling Moss

Specification

Just as puristic as the exterior appearance is the styling of the interior, which has been reduced to the essentials. The high-grade materials used for the interior underscore the unique character of the SLR Stirling Moss. Underneath the gear knob, the namesake's engraved signature in aluminium is a further reference to the man who made this vehicle a classic.

While retaining iconic elements such as the carbon fibre air scoops, the body shape gives the impression of having been designed by a single hand, reflecting the perfect combination of racing nostalgia and modern super sports car design.
